Top 5 Enonic kick-of​fs

In Norway there is a frigid darkness marking the start of every new year. The winter is biting cold and relentless, with nary an appearance from our beloved sun. To make matters worse, the joyful and merry time of Christmas is over—gone are the festive decorations and lighting.

In these miserable, dark days, the wizards of Enonic have conjured up a defensive spell: the yearly kick-offs! Instead of moping around in bitterness, the Enonicians travel on grand trips to kickstart the new year, gain inspiration, present plans for the coming year, and to have fun.

During the eons Enonic has had its share of kick-offs, and here are the highlights in reverse chronological order:

Svalbard 2022

The Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard houses the world's northernmost full service hotel, liquor store, supermarket, cinema, library, and—of course—kebab van. This dark, remote, enchanting, and totally otherworldly place were chosen for the 2022 Enonic kick-off.

While we didn't get eaten by polar bears, we did see a northern light, as well as the insides of a glacier. Other activities included snow mobiles, dog sledding, ice bathing, brewery touring, Longyearbyen touring, and a several great meals—including in a nice and cozy cabin.

The Alps 2020

This trip would be like the previous alpine trips—only this time on some serious steroids. The Enonic anniversary kick-off 2020 were held at the largest and most modern ski resort in Austria, Saalbach-Hinterglemm!

A dream for all alpine lovers, the stay at Saalbach featured a lot of skiing, partying at the after-ski, and other exciting activities.

Berlin 2018

The kick-off in Berlin started in the worst possible way, with an airplane cancellation and having to spend the first night on a hotel in Copenhagen.

But such obstacles are no match for the optimism of the Enonic team, who persisted and arrived in Berlin anyway. Here they went on a legendary Trabant safari, a walking tour, and an exotic dinner show.

Oxford 2017

Feeling the need to be sophisticated and civilised, as opposed to just being snowclad northern barbarians, Enonic went to the land of tea time, moustaches, universities and correct diction—Oxford in England.

Here the team experienced a prison break-themed escape room in Oxford Prison, a hackathon at Oxford University, a jolly walking tour, and a visit to the pub of J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis—The Eagle and Child.

Tromsø 2016

Far to the north in the land of Neversun lies the city that is dubbed the Paris of the north—Tromsø. A beautiful city in its own right, Tromsø is an ideal destination for anyone seeking experiences out of the ordinary.

In Tromsø, Enonic casually went on a whale safari, witnessed the stunningly beautiful northern lights, overcame a climbing park, and excelled at pole jumping. Team building activities indoors involved rather embarrassing team names like Team Princess and Team Zorro—you can picture the rest.
